End of May 2020, I decided I needed to commit to CrossFit classes. At the time, I wasn’t sure why I never did before, but I was ready to start the journey.
Being vulnerable is not easy, but it’s absolutely necessary for growth. I become stronger each day because I committed to my betterment as a whole body approach. I told myself I would at the very least show up and make Squad17* for a year, no matter what.
It was a life changing experience for me. I’ve grown so much over the past 12 months. I may not be where I want to be physically, but I realized that I had to work on the inside if I was ever going to be successful with weight loss.
And here’s the best part, the more you show up, the more friends you make, the more you feel part of a community and see that others care for you and you for them. There are days I didn’t want to go to class, but I wanted to see my friends and they counted on me and I on them. Subconsciously, we are driving one another.
I’m very proud of myself and cannot wait to see where I’m at this time next year.
*Squad 17 recognizes athletes who consistently attend class, at the gym or virtually, 17 or more times a month. Squad members are entered into a monthly drawing and one lucky winner gets a prize.
