”The strength and endurance I had built through my CrossFit workouts played a pivotal role in this remarkable delivery...

On the morning of April 15th, around 10am, I began experiencing vomiting and contractions spaced at 45-minute intervals. Concerned by the presence of a bloody show, we promptly headed to the hospital. Upon examination, the doctor confirmed I was in active labor and was already 7cm dilated. Remarkably, by the time the labor room was prepared for me, I had progressed to 9 cm dilation without any medical intervention.
Despite reaching 9.5cm dilation, I was still able to sit comfortably to receive an epidural. Following the administration of the epidural, I felt deeply relaxed, leading everyone in the room to anticipate a swift delivery, given my rapid dilation with minimal pain. However, the delivery presented unexpected challenges.
I began pushing at 5:30pm, and by 6:30pm, the baby’s head was visible. Yet, he became lodged in my pelvic bone, a complication exacerbated by his sunny side up positioning. It’s noteworthy that only 5-8% of babies are in the sunny side up position, and of those, 95% result in C-section deliveries. Astonishingly, I managed to deliver my baby vaginally, without the need for further medical interventions, after an arduous 4-hour pushing phase.
The strength and endurance I had built through my CrossFit workouts played a pivotal role in this remarkable delivery. The rigorous training not only prepared me physically but also mentally, enabling me to persevere through the challenging labor and successfully deliver my baby.
